Hello, just updating you on the past couple of weeks. Lots to write about...lol.
First, our bank account was recently hacked! Yes, its true, and it happens. I went to check our account online last week and saw a string of online purchases to different places. I knew it wasn't Drew because he's been on the Internet one time since he got back to Iraq and he didn't even have enough time to order anything...not 17 transactions to say the least. Also, I don't believe my husband would sign up for AARP at 25. =) Then, I see where they signed up for lifelock, an identity theft program, and I just had to laugh. They signed up for identity theft with a STOLEN debit card number....geez louise! So, I am still working with the bank to get the charges disputed so we can get our money bank. What a mess!! Then, Barbara, Drew's mom starts receiving packages from some of these places...I still don't know how that happened, but I took them back to the post office to return to sender. I had to cut off Drew's card because that's the number that was being used. So, my husband is 8,000 miles away with no financial resource. Talk about being stressed out....I mailed his new card today. Whheeww! Only us right?
So, today, I am standing in line at the post office to return the packages and Drew calls right before I walk up to the counter. I can't "ignore" his call, so the lady working their looks at me with disgust because I am on the phone and I am completely aware that this is rude, trust me I hate it myself. So I continue to talk to him and her at the same time...hehe. Drew says, "what are you doing?" I said "well, returning bogus packages at the post office then stepping next door to regions to handle our bank account." In the very next breath, he says "I have bad news" so of course, I think something traumatic has happened....and he says, "you need to order me a new computer charger for my laptop because mine got burnt up in a power outage we had yesterday." Naturally, I am all worried because he can't use his computer to talk to me until I get him a charger. Errr! Anyway, ordered one today and its on its way to FOB Marez.
On the bright side, I have been talking to a mortgage broker the last few days getting pre-qualified for a home loan!! Let the house hunting begin! We are so excited to begin this new adventure. I want to be completely moved in and decorated before Drew gets home for good. That way, we can enjoy it and make it our home! I know I'm going to have a lot of work to do by myself, but I am up for the challenge. Most people think I am crazy for buying a house while he is gone, but I see it as a WONDERFUL surprise when he can walk into a beautiful home where we will begin our new lives together! Also, I have been looking to plan a surprise vacation for Drew. He will know we are going somewhere, but I am just going to tell him how to pack. I think its a great idea and a REAL honeymoon for us both since we've yet to experience the woes of being married!
Tomorrow, I start on a new unit at work. Princeton has opened a chest pain observation unit (CPOU) and I am one of the 8 RN's staffed their. I am anxious, nervous, excited, and happy to see where this career move takes me. Wish me luck!
As you can see, we both have plenty going on in our lives to keep us busy. Drew has been traveling back and forth from the FOB to a "remote location" and staying there for 11 days at a time. I haven't seen him since he left. I am in need of a web cam date REALLY soon, but hoping he gets his charger sometime in the next 11 days. All is well with him. He sounds good, and rested. You know, when you know someone so well, you can read their emotions and problems through their voice. I believe that has become my 6th sense as an Army wife and I embrace it! God has given me superpowers to help me storm this weather and I am so grateful for His grace and safety. He has shown me who I was meant to be all along. God made me strong, and has tested me. Through it all, He has shown me His way and His love for me and Drew. =)
'till next time....love y'all!
